What is T'ai Chi Chuan & Chi Kung?
These are Arts rooted in the healing, meditational and martial traditions of China. They make use of movement, relaxation, meditation, breathing and postural techniques to help the student
develop balancing and harmonious movements.
Chi Kung - An umbrella term for a variety of exercises. It involves learning
individual, or short sets of gentle meditative movements, for health and
cultivating positive energy. These movements work on your posture,
breathing, energy levels and coordination. The key difference between Chi Kung
and T'ai Chi Chuan is that there is no work on a T'ai Chi form.
T'ai Chi Chuan - Can be translated as Supreme Ultimate Fist. It is a martial art;
the full system includes individual exercises, empty hand sequences,
weapons forms and partner work. The emphasis is on harmonising the
mind, body and internal energy, rather than just using muscular strength;
so it can be practised by people of all abilities and ages.
